Silk Guide
Before You Purchase Our Silk Products
Hello and welcome! 💛 We’d like to share a few helpful facts about silk to help you make an informed purchase.
1. Silk's Origin
Silk was first developed in China over 2,000 years ago. Today, China still produces around 78% of the world's silk, making it the leading silk producer globally. Thanks to its centuries of expertise, access to premium mulberry silk, and well-established craftsmanship, China is widely recognized as producing some of the finest silk in the world. This is why many high-quality silk garments and home textiles are made there.
2. Every Silk Fabric Is Different
Not all silk feels the same. Besides the well-known Silk Satin (Charmeuse), there are many types of silk fabrics. Their shine, softness, texture, thickness, and drape vary depending on the weave, dyeing process, and finishing techniques.
3. Choosing the Right Size & Caring for Silk
We recommend choosing a slightly looser fit or one size up, especially for sleepwear, as natural silk may shrink slightly (around 2 cm) after its first wash. Silk is a delicate natural fiber, so please follow the care instructions carefully when washing and ironing to keep it looking beautiful for years.
4. Product Information & Transparency
Transparency is one of our core values. We clearly state the fabric composition in every product description, including whether an item is made from 100% silk or a silk blend, so you know exactly what you're purchasing. We believe in providing honest and accurate product information—no hidden details or misleading claims. If you have any questions or need further clarification before placing your order, we're always happy to help.
5. Our Quality Promise
We work only with trusted suppliers and long-term business partners. We regularly visit and assess our manufacturing partners to verify the authenticity, craftsmanship, and quality of our silk products—so you can shop with confidence.
6. Thoughtfully Curated Collections
At Silkouette, we believe quality is more important than quantity. We are not a mass-production retailer. Just as carefully as we select our trusted suppliers, we thoughtfully curate every collection we offer.
We focus on timeless designs, unique pieces, and exceptional craftsmanship rather than fast-changing trends. To maintain our quality standards and reduce unnecessary waste, we intentionally keep our inventory limited.
Because many of our products are available in small quantities or through carefully selected collections, once an item is sold out, it may not be restocked. If you find something you truly love, we recommend not waiting too long—you may not see it again.
Thank you for choosing us. We hope you enjoy the beauty, comfort, and timeless elegance of genuine silk.
